Answers:  the poet wants to go to Innisfree to enjoy its natural beauty the poet hears the playing sound of birds and gets peace of mind there.

I. 1. What kind of place is Innisfree ? Think about:

  (i) the three things the poet wants to do when he   

       Goes back there. (stanza);

 

   (ii) what he hears and sees three and its effect 

         on him (stanza II);

 

  (iii) what he hears in his “heart’s core” even  

        when he is far away Innisfree (stanza III);

 

Answers:  Innisfree is a beautiful place where are full of natural scenery.

 

(i)                There the poet want to build a small cabin of clay wattles. The poet will have nine bean-rows and live for the honey bees.


(ii)              He hears peace comes slowly and the cricket sings. He sees the midnight shine and purple glow at noon. Evenings are full linnet’s wings. He feels very happy and gets peace of mind.


(iii)            The poet    hears the lake water lapping the shore with a low sound.


  2.  By now you may have conclude that Innisfree  is a simple, natural place, full of beauty and   

Peace.  How does the poet contrast it with 

Where he now stands? (Read stanza III. )

Answers:  the poet compares the beauty of Innisfree with the roads and pavements, where the poet stands.


 3. Do you think Innisfree is only a place, or a state   of mind? Does the poet actually miss the place   of His boyhood days ?

 

Answers:  Innisfree is a real place that give peace to the frustrated souls. The poet longs to live at such a beautiful and peaceful place. The poet misses this place a lot.


II. 1. Look at the words the poet uses to describe what he sees and hears at Innisfree 

   (i) Be - loud glade

 

   (ii) Evenings full of linnet’s wings 

 

(iii) Lake water lapping with low sounds what pictures do these words create in your mind?

 

Answers:

 

(i)        These words represent the hive and honey bees humming all around and it forms a glade.

(ii)      Linnets is a beautiful and when it flutter its wings it looks very nice.

(iii)    The waves strike the lake shore tom crate a pleasing sound.

 

2. Look at  the these words :

       Dropping from the veils of the morning to where the cricket sings what do these words mean to you? What do you think ‘comes dropping slow.. From the veils of the morning”? What does “to where the cricket sings” mean?

Answers:  these words represents that surrounds that area in the morning. The pleasing and melodious song of cricket welcome the morning.
