(a) When do the Kashmiri vendors travel to cities to sell their goods ?

Ans: Every year, the Kashmiri vendors travel to cities when the rainy season comes to an end winter is about to begin.

(b) Why is it a hard life for the Kashmiri Vendors ?

Ans: The Kashmiri Vendors stay in a cheap hotel. They travel around the city on foot, carrying a bundle of things to sell on their backs. They eat something in the morning and spend the rest of the day roaming around the city remaining hungry and thirsty. So, it is a hard life for the Kashmiri Vendors.

(c) Why was the author  surprised when his brother in law called the Vendors ?

Ans: The author was sure that his brother in la needed nothing from the Vendors. So, he was surprised when his brother in law called the Vendors in.

(d) "I felt sad and guilty at being a party to such behaviour."- What does the word 'party' mean here ?

Ans: The 'party' here means to take side. He refers to the behaviour that he did not wish to buy anything from the Vendors.

(e) Who was kind? What was his deed of kindness ?

Ans: The brother in law of the author was kind.

             His deed of kindness was to offer food to the two Kashmiri Vendors.
