 4. Why is the transport of materials necessary in a plant or in an animal? Explain.

Ans:-  Transport of materials is essential for both plants and animals, as every cell requires a continuous supply of nutrients and oxygen for respiration. The food consumed is broken down into simpler forms for absorption by cells, and oxygen must be delivered to all body cells. Waste products such as carbon dioxide must also be removed. In plants, vascular tissues (xylem and phloem) facilitate water and food transport.

5. What will happen if there are no platelets in the blood ?

Ans:-  If platelets were absent in the blood, it would not clot, as platelets release clotting factors at injury sites to prevent excessive bleeding.

       (ii)  Water evaporation (transpiration).

Ans:- The heart continuously pumps blood, distributing oxygen and nutrients while removing waste. It has four chambers: two atria (upper chambers) and two ventricles (lower chambers). The partition between chambers prevents oxygen-rich blood from mixing with carbon dioxide-rich blood. Blood circulates between the heart and lungs before being pumped to the rest of the body.
